With a ristretto you get the strongest of all the espresso variants. A ristretto is brewed with the same amount of coffee as a regular espresso, but only half the amount of water.
You get a coffee with juice and power - so much in fact that in better cafes a risretto is served with a glass of water to alleviate the strong taste.
This ristretto is created exclusively from finely ground Arabica beans from South and Central America. The taste is dark and intense, with notes of cocoa. The body is dark and deep, with a slightly caramelised character, and an aftertaste that is long and lingering. It is crowned by a golden soft crema.
In other words, here is a coffee with edge and character. For many, a ristretto is probably just a little too intense. At the same time it is also a type of coffee that has many followers, who value it for its deep powerful taste, and ability to give the body and palate a quick coffee kick.
